Anchor

Children laugh on Suffield Park, chasing footballs across the open grass.

Leave the chatter behind and follow the Northrepps Road for a short while. A simple wooden gate on the left marks the entrance to the woods.

Within a few steps, everything changes.

Navigate

Tarmac gives way to earth beneath your feet.

Dappled light filters through the trees as the path climbs uphill to the right.

The woodland suddenly opens.

Sea and sky and stretch towards the horizon, with a lone bench perched on the hillside.

Curve right through the quiet caravan park, following the path until a woodland opening appears on your left.

Here, the Fairy Trail begins. Small painted doors hide among tree stumps, inviting a closer look.

Listen for muntjac deer moving through the undergrowth. Squirrels dart between fallen leaves, and pheasants burst unexpectedly from the hedgerows.

The final stretch follows the route of an old railway line. Now reclaimed by trees, it forms a green shady corridor.

The sounds of football drift back into earshot as the loop returns to where it began.

Pause. Stay awhile.

The bench on the hillside offers the horizon, for those who need a quiet moment.
